Project goals, constraints, and success criteria

A project has a defined outcome and a temporary delivery effort. Agree on success criteria and constraints before making a detailed task schedule.

Worked example

Goal: launch an enrollment portal by an agreed date; success: validated enrollments, accurate confirmations, and usable phone layouts.

Put it into practice

Draft a project charter with the outcome, sponsor, constraints, and measurable acceptance criteria.

Check your understanding

  • Explain the main idea in your own words.
  • Compare your result with the worked example and identify any assumptions you made.
  • Record one question or edge case to discuss with your instructor.

Connect this to your project
