Values, bindings, and strict comparisons

Use const for bindings that are not reassigned and let for changing bindings. Strict equality compares without the coercion performed by loose equality.

Worked example

const courseCount = 12;
console.log(courseCount === '12'); // false

Put it into practice

Classify six values by type and explain why a numeric string differs from a number.

Check your understanding

  • Explain the main idea in your own words.
  • Compare your result with the worked example and identify any assumptions you made.
  • Record one question or edge case to discuss with your instructor.
